Maryam’s nomination papers for Punjab CM's position submitted, says Azma
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz for the position of Punjab chief minister have been submitted, PML-N leader Azma Bukhari has said.
The PML-N also made an announcement on social media platform X, stating that Maryam Nawaz's nomination papers for the position of Punjab chief minister had been submitted.
Addressing media on the premises of the Punjab Assembly after the submission of Maryam's nomination, Azma Bukhari expressed hope that Maryam Nawaz would assume the role of chief minister tomorrow [Monday].
She emphasised that any disrespect towards a female chief minister would not be tolerated.
During the ongoing inaugural session of the Punjab Assembly, ruckus was witnessed on Saturday when legislators from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), which includes PTI-backed MPs, chanted slogans against PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif upon the arrival of chief minister-designate Maryam Nawaz in the House.
Azma expressed hope that there would be no misconduct and that opposition members would maintain peace. She also expressed hope that opponents of the PML-N would respect the mandate of the PML-N.
She clarified that there was no rivalry between Maryam Nawaz and the founder of PTI. She further said that once elected as chief minister, Maryam would announce the Ramadan package shortly.
